SecuriKey and Mac OS X Snow Leopard Compatibility
August 29, 2009 - 2:00pm CST
GT SecuriKey is aware of an issue with SecuriKey v3.1 and the release edition of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard that began shipping on Friday, August 28th. SecuriKey v3.1 will install and run on Snow Leopard, but the logon authentication subsystem is not functioning correctly. There is a small window of time that someone can access a SecuriKey-protected system with only the correct password before the SecuriKey system detects the missing SecuriKey USB key and locks the Mac.
SecuriKey was tested on the pre-release editions of Snow Leopard and did not encounter this problem. SecuriKey Engineering is working at this hour to isolate and fix the problem with the release edition of Snow Leopard. Updated SecuriKey software will be available as soon as possible.
More information will be posted here as it is available.

We have also received reports of inconsistent behavior with the SecuriKey Preference Pane and the SecuriKey Encrypted Volume mount mechanisms when running on Macs using the new 10.6 Snow Leopard release. We are now taking a comprehensive review of the SecuriKey code and its execution on the release edition of Snow Leopard.
If you do not have to upgrade to Snow Leopard immediately, we are suggesting you hold off on the upgrade until the updated SecuriKey software is available. If you do proceed with the Snow Leopard upgrade, you may want to stop the SecuriKey Services via the SecuriKey Preference Pane prior to installing Snow Leopard.
More information will be posted here as it is available.

We have identified the core issues behind both the security vulnerability reported on August 29th and the inconsistent behavior reported on September 1st. SecuriKey Engineering has developed fixes for these issues. We are now testing an updated version of SecuriKey for use with Snow Leopard.
More information, including when the update will be released, will be posted here as it is available.

We are working on some additional issues specific to the way the SecuriKey hardware drivers work on Macs with newer Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Xeon chips. We have a new Beta that incorporates updated hardware drivers and are testing with a variety of Mac configurations to insure consistent behavior.
More information will be posted here as it is available.

There is one final, important issue left to resolve before SecuriKey for Snow Leopard is complete. Solving this issue has proven more difficult than expected. Completing this update is the #1 priority at GT SecuriKey. More information will be posted here as it is available.
